OUR ERIC says: "Your Town Needs You!"
Residents are being asked to give their views on a new appraisal designed to improve the view of Marine Road from the Eric Morecambe statue.

Lancaster City Council has prepared their review of the Morecambe Conservation Area as part of the propose
d second Townscape Heritage Initiative for the town: Morecambe THI 2: A View for Eric.

The document looks at the relationship between Morecambe's built environment and the Bay and how the town grew out of the fishing village of Poulton-le-Sands. Further to this, the document also looks at how much of Morecambe's character also stems from what is intangible, such as its fishing heritage and its historic association with the stars of musical hall and variety theatre.

Council officers are keen to know what local people think of the Conservation Area and invite comments on such aspects as:
* What you think is special about Morecambe's buildings / setting?
* Which buildings or features make a positive contribution to the town?
* Which spaces do you appreciate or think could be made better?
* What has improved over the last few years or changed for the worse?
The draft Morecambe Conservation Area Appraisal can be viewed at www.lancaster.gov.uk/morecambecaa.

You can then submit your comments in writing to:
Forward Planning, Planning Services, Lancaster City Council, Palatine Hall, Dalton Square, Lancaster LA1 1PW
Or by emailing: viewforeric@lancaster.gov.uk

Responses should be submitted before Friday, August 1.
