Controversial plans to open a continental-style patisserie in Ullswater Road, Lancaster, have been given the go ahead this afternoon, Monday.
Lancaster City Council's planning committee voted in favour of the application, submitted by Richard Dow who is also involved with the Gregson Centre, the Britannia and the Park Hotel in Lancaster.

The patisserie will have its opening hours restricted to between 9.30am and 7.30pm, as opposed to the requested 11am to 9pm opening times.

Concern was raised by members of the public over traffic problems the 50 seat venue could bring, as well as problems with noise and anti-social behaviour.

Chair of the planning committee Coun Eileen Blamire said that the restricted opening times were 'a reasonable compromise' for all those involved.
