Train services were delayed this morning after a man was hit by a high speed train between Garstang and Broughton near Brock crossing.
The Birmingham New Street to Glasgow service left Preston at around 8.40am and was travelling at 110 miles per hour when a man stepped out from some bushes and was hit by the train. The driver of the train saw the man and then felt a thud but could not have stopped in time.

Ambulance services pronounced the man dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said that some services had been delayed, including some services into Lancaster, but everything had returned to normal by 10.15am.
