AN elderly lady was rescued from a house fire in Morecambe yesterday, Thursday, after her son-in-law spotted the blaze and ran in to pull her out.
The lady escaped with minor burns to her foot after a chip pan caught fire in her home, destroying the kitchen and causing smoke damage to the rest of the house.

She was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary for treatment.

Fire crews were called to the house in Bowfell Avenue in Morecambe at 6.21pm, where they found the lady with burns to her foot but otherwise unhurt.

The fire service would like to pay tribute to the son-in-law who saw the smoke from outside and acted quickly.

There was no fire alarm in the property and if the fire had not been discovered when it had, there would have certainly been loss of life, a fire officer said.
