A MUM and two children were rescued from their car after it became stuck in flood water on the road between Conder Green and Glasson Dock.
A man and woman were also helped from another car further along the B5290 when it was flooded by a high tide from the River Lune estuary on Tuesday.

Crews from Lancaster Fire Station were called to the incident near The Stork Inn at 1.22pm, where
they found water up to the doors of the mum's car.

Watch manager John Timperley told how two firefighters wearing dry suits waded through the knee-deep water to carry the boy and girl to safety and the arms of their Dad who had rushed to the scene.

"They were just toddlers, maybe aged three or four, and they and their mother were getting a little agitated," he said.

Mr Timperley said both she and the other man and woman had given up trying to drive through the water.

They were helped to safety by passing HGVs. A major incident support unit from Preston, which carries a dinghy, and an ambulance were called to the scene, but neither was needed.

"The road looked like it was flooded right through to Glasson Dock but the tide was on its turn when we left," said Mr Timperley.

"That estuary is renowned for flooding and we had received flood warning from our control room about that area because it was the highest tide of the year."
