This photograph of the partial eclipse of the sun was taken by Steve Bullen from his garden in Bowerham, Lancaster, on Friday.
He took it using a standard digital camera with a special solar filter over the lens.

Two years ago Steve went to Turkey to see a total eclipse, which he describes as a breathtaking spectacle, and next year he hopes to visit China to see a particularly long total eclipse.

Steve is a member of Lancaster and Morecambe Astronomical Society, which meets at 7.30pm on the first Wednesday of the month from September at the Church of the Ascension, Torrisholme. Everyone is welcome.
