Some of the worst weather in 42 years.....

Saturday saw the third highest daily record of rainfall for 42 years with 4.47cm of rain falling on Lancaster district roofs, brollies and gardens.
Lancaster University weather station, which began monitoring in 1966, has only recorded two higher daily downpours of 5.52cm in 1978, and 4.73cm in 2002.
The highest recording for August was four years ago in 2004, when 20.95cm fell across the district. So far this August we've seen 8.85cm and there's supposedly still more to come.
Debbie Hurst, from the university weather station, said: "The increased rainfall in August we've seen in the last few years could just be one of those 'wobbles' in the weather patterns. It would be difficult to attribute it to global warming, however it certainly doesn't help refute suggestions that it could be down to this."
The wet weather has played havoc with several major events across the district this week including Lunesdale Show which had to be cancelled and CancerCare's cross bay walk and half marathon.
But the show went on for The Dukes Theatre which managed to stage every outdoor performance of Beauty and the Beast in Williamson Park during its month long run....until the very last night.
An hour from the end of Saturday's performance, the rain became just too heavy and the show was stopped.
