Roads in and out of Wray were jammed for the event which has become one of the north west's most popular attractions.

The Scarecrow Festival is now part of the Festivals of Britain calendar and attracts around 25,000 people to the village over the ten days. It raises about £750,000 in trade for businesses within the region of which the village sees about £30,000 which is poured into their own groups and charities.

One of the most popular features of the festival is the the Walking with Giants grand scarecrow parade which took place on Friday when prizes for the best scarecrows were presented and there was a bonfire which the scarecrows were kept well away from.

The highlight of the festivities came on Monday with Wray Fair which was opened by Jim Bentley and Carl Baker from Morecambe Football Club.

Among the attractions were the Wray to Caton Moor fell race, duck herding and birds of prey as well as numerous stalls and displays.
