LANCASTER CITY recorded their seventh consecutive victory against Fylde on Saturday to keep up the pressure on the top two.

The Dolly Blues are six points from leaders Curzon Ashton and three from second placed Colwyn Bay with five and four games
in hand respectively.

The Dolly Blues were second best for large parts of the first half as a Fylde side buoyed by on-loan Lee Dodgson threatened to take the game away from them.

However the former City winger, on loan from Fleetwood Town, could do nothing to stop quick-fire City snatching two goals in two minutes to decide the game just before the end of the first-half.

Dodgson was excellent down the left for Fylde, showing all of the class that City fans remember from last season. Former players tend to bite back at their previous owners and on 18 minutes Dodgson did just that.

He jinked down the left, beating two men playing a one-two with Matt Mahoney before crossing for Matt Walwyn to convert an easy goal.

This game was always going to be tasty, Fylde fielded six former Dolly Blues in their starting line-up and there was plenty of blood and thunder; yet pleasingly only two bookings.

City's desire for the fight was impressive, they were not at their fluid best yet they harried forward and got their break on 43 minutes.
Adam Farrell smashed a brutal free-kick from twenty-five yards, just left of centre into the bottom right corner, the ball took a slight deflection but all credit must go to Farrell's clean and powerful strike.

Two minutes later and it was two-one. Jordan Connerton picked up the ball with his back to goal, Sharrock surged past him screaming for the ball over the top – Connerton has more class than that – his neat reverse through ball was inch perfect for Sharrock to take a touch and neatly finish.

With the last kick of the half Paul Jarvis could have made it three after he controlled a loose ball on his chest only to smash the ball over the bar.

The second-half produced little in the way of chances, Walwyn spurned town half-chances for the home side while Max Rothwell could not deflect Neil Marshall's cross-cum-shot goal-ward.

Dodgson switched flanks to give Rob Henry a taste of his terror; the City full-back dealt with the threat well.

City now take on Wakefield at home on Saturday looking to keep their excellent form going.
