BARRIE Stimpson was set to add Lee Dodgson to his squad this week ahead of the season 'dress rehearsal' with Kendal on Saturday at Giant Axe.
The former Morecambe forward was due to put pen to paper on Thursday after impressing in last week's 4-1 victory at Kidsgrove.

And with Dominic Ward also signing, manager Stimpson has options available to him ahead of the campaign opener at Harrogate Railway.
Stimpson said: "I am pleased to be adding Lee to the squad. He showed on Saturday what he can bring to the club.

"Dominic is a big strong player and increases the competition in the midfield alongside Michael Stringfellow, Tom Entwisle and Aaron Helliwell.

"I am delighted with the competition that we have all over the park now. It is my job to get the best out of the lads who really could be playing at a higher level."

Paul Fildes is likely to miss Saturday's game with an ankle injury but should be fit for the opening day.

Mark Jackson also has a slight knock while definitely missing on Saturday are Mike Rushton, who is at a wedding, and Neil Uberschar who is away.

With the injured Iain Swan and Steve Cudworth both set to miss the start, Stimpson is still looking for another centre-half.

The City boss classes this Saturday's game with a Kendal side fresh from beating Morecambe as a 'dress rehearsal'.

He said: "They have beaten a strong Morecambe side this week and a lot of the players will know each other which always adds a bit of spice.
"But I am sure that (Kendal boss) Lee Ashcroft would want to come through unscathed for the game the weel after.

"I am looking for a performance with plenty of chances created. This is a dress rehearsal for the Harrogate game."

Mark Thornley will start in goal on Saturday after returning from holiday with Ben Price reverting back to the bench.

Stimpson said: "Ben has done very well. He knows he has to dislodge Mark Thornley but he has not done himself any harm."
