Lancaster captain David Heywood won the toss and chose to field first in the traditional Bank Holiday derby.
Morecambe openers, Vishal Goyol and Mark Woodhead started well, reaching 40 for the first wicket. And it wasn't until Danny Milligan's last over of his allotted spell that the breakthrough came, the ball nipping back to bowl Woodhead (17).
Goyal (42) continued to stroke the ball about and he was particularly destructive against Lancaster pro Wassem Khan.
Tim Barry (1-9) bowled Mark Lomas (eight) and Scott Sparks (1-12) also bowled Tommy Clough without scoring, to even proceedings up.
But a lengthy rain break in Lancaster's favour meant Morecambe only had eight overs left of their innings when play restarted.
Milligan (2-34) and Khan in particular (4-62) kept the total down with some excellent at the death bowling. Morecambe professional, Bruce Martin (17) was the only person to reach double figures, as the home side crumbled to 127 off their 50 overs.
In reply, Lancaster started shakily, losing Jamie Heywood to only his second ball, bowled by Gareth Pedder (1-18) and then Michael Stevens was adjudged trapped in front to Jono Gates (1-25), leaving Lancaster 20-2.
Barry and Ryan Nelson settled the innings down, but the game was creeping away as runs became harder to find, on a much damper outfield.
The game was still the balance as Lancaster required 60 off the last eight overs.
But losing Barry (35) and Michael Walling soon after, captain Heywood and Nelson (42 not out) played out the latter overs and kept their wickets intact, Lancaster coming away with a losing draw.
