FIVE new teams were elected at the AGM of the Lancaster Honda North Lancashire and District Football League on Monday.
Morecambe Gold (who will play at Trimpell), Heysham Reserves (Heysham High), Middleton Reserves (Middleton), Morecambe Cricket Club Reserves (Trimpell) and Highgrove Colts (Royal Albert) will all play in Division Four this season.

Morecambe Gold w
ere announced at the AGM as a team of veterans, aged 35 and over.

Both Burton Thistle Reserves and Overton Reserves applied for re-election and were voted in.

>> Is it time for change?

There was one resignation with Vine FC withdrawing from Division One meaning that division will have 14 teams next season.

The number of new teams coming in means that there are 68 sides in the League, two short of the maximum allowed in the constitution.

The season will start on Wednesday, August 20 and finish on Saturday, May 10.
Chairman Mel Troughton was due to stand down but in the absence of any nominations, agreed to say in post until the next League management meeting.

Mr Troughton said he had been pleased to see the league grow in strength so that there were only two gaps. Discipline had improved while the number of fines was also going down. He also urged clubs to respect referees.

He thanked the committee, in particular secretary Lawrie Postlethwaite and treasurer Phil Davies and led a round of applause for president Jim Bell.
