Morecambe began the first of three games over the Bank Holiday weekend with a convincing win over Carnforth.
After being inserted, Morecambe got off to a good start as Vishal Goyal raced out of the blocks with some fine attacking stroke play.
The partnership reached 62, with Mark Woodhead left to spectate for most of it, but in trying to up the rate Woodhead succumbed to a neat catch by Parker off the wily John Denwood.
It was Denwood and ex-Morecambe starlet Warren Quinn that stalled the Morecambe innings, taking the pace off the ball on a track offering plenty of assistance.
Quinn saw to the demise of Goyal (54) with a smart caught and bowled, Goyal having impressed again with 11 boundaries in his innings.
Mark Lomas and Phil Dennison then built a steady platform for a final onslaught with solid contributions.
But it was a late flourish from professional Bruce Martin and in particular Gareth Pedder, including two memorable sixes, that took Morecambe to a very useful 194-7. Quinn (3-65) and Denwood (4-67) could be proud of their efforts with the ball too.
Carnforth's reply started disastrously, and didn't get better. Pedder had Adam Hornby well caught down by Damian Gudgeon to start a remarkable collapse. Jono Gates followed this up by forcing professional Ryan Bailey, in his last game for the club, to play on, and with that, the Carnforth side surrendered.
None of the batsmen had answers to the slow bowling duo of Graham Lee and Martin.
Martin soon saw off Moore and Ben Hornby, and Lee claimed the wickets of Tom Barnfield and Robert Parker.
The Morecambe dominance didn't end there as the bowlers, backed up by a fine fielding display, showed no mercy against the Carnforth lower order.
Cowperthwaite did reach double figures, but Martin (5-9) and Lee (3-11) had the last word.
