PATRICK Miller could celebrate his 14th birthday by boxing for European Championship gold later this month.
The 13-year-old has been chosen for the Great Britain squad for the event in Serbia and has been training with his team-mates in Liverpool this week.

The team fly out on July 20 with Patrick lined up to take on fighters from across Europe in the 62kg category.

His Boys Club coach Bob Howard, who is hoping to be able to go to Serbia, said: "He is fit and had a good win recently against the two-time Irish champion.

I just hope that he can go out there and come back with a medal – and hopefully with gold.

"To even get there is a great achievement."

Patrick is one of the shining lights of the thriving Lancaster boxing scene. He has won national Golden Gloves titles in each of the last two seasons.
