NOW that spring is well and truly here why not join the Lancaster and District Con-servation Volunteers for their forthcoming projects?
Over the winter's work volunteers completed 150 metres of hedge-laying and planted a new coppice.

The planned workdays (all Sundays) are as follows:

MAY 11
Dry-stone walling at Hazel-wood Farm in Silverdale to help maintain st
ock boundaries and improve key landscape features.

MAY 25
A chance to see how the winter's hedge-laying and tree-planting has done at Bel-mount Farm in Slyne. Man-aging and maintaining is a crucial part of the work.

JUNE 1
More dry-stone walling at Hazelwood Farm; it takes time to hone your skills.

JUNE 15
Summer maintenance of Torrisholme and Great Wood Schools nature reserves.

JULY 2
Dry-stone walling at Hazelwood Farm.

The pick-ups will be at the Shrimp roundabout at 9.15am and Royal Lancaster Infirm-ary bus stop at 9.30am, by arrangement.

To get involved email Liz and David Alexander at www.ldcv.org or call them on 01524 412938 (7pm to 9pm).

You can also email the volunteers' secretary. Sylvia Cooper, at sylviacooper@btinternet.com.
