A YOUNG man who carried out a revenge knife attack has been given three years youth custody.
Ashley Sumner from Lancaster stabbed a man he saw with his ex-girlfriend, after friends had teased him over being two-timed.

The victim, Stephen Ibrams – who initially thought he had been punched – suffered a stab wound to his abdomen in the Preston attack.

At Preston Crown Court the judge spoke of the immense public concern about the use of knives.

Recorder David Eccles said it was often a matter of chance whether a victim was seriously injured or not.

Nineteen-year-old Sumner of Stone Row Head, Lancaster, had pleaded guilty to a charge of wounding with intent.

The stabbing took place one night last January in the East Street area of Preston.
