FOR the 16th consecutive year a stunning and spectacular free
fireworks display lit up Lancaster Castle Hill on Saturday night.
As usual, the pyrotechnics came at the end of a day of entertainments and events, this year themed on the 1605 Gunpowder Plot.

These included period music groups, talks on Lancaster's connection with the Gunpowder Plot and guided walks.

This year, the newly-formed Lancaster Independent Network of City Traders supported the celebrations by organising a variety of live street performers, in and around Market Square. The thrilling climax came at 8pm, with the launch of a massive fireworks spectacular.
