POLICE have named a man who died in a road traffic collision on Tuesday afternoon.
Ian Allott, 46, from Lancaster was riding his Honda motorbike when he was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Vectra. He was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary but sadly died shortly after arrival.

The incident happened on Mellishaw Lane
outside the Volkswagen garage. The road was closed for three and a half hours whilst accident investigations carried out their work.

Sergeant Nigel Ralphson, the senior investigating officer, said: "Naturally, Mr Allott's family are absolutely devastated by what has happened. We have specially trained officers with them and supporting them through this incredibly difficult time.

"We are trying to establish what happened on Tuesday evening and I would further appeal to the public to come forward with information. I am keen to speak to anyone who saw the motorbike travelling prior to the incident. It is believed he was travelling from the Slyne area although his exact route is not known. Also the man in his 50s with glasses who spoke to staff outside the VW garage is important. I need him to come forward. I would ask people to contact us on 01524 63333.
