LANDLORDS in Morecambe are working in partnership with the police to ensure that people drink responsibly this summer.
PC John Holmes is joining forces with local publicans as part of Lancashire Constabulary's Operation Summer Nights in a effort to make sure the resort is a safe place for visitors and resid-ents alike.

Principal theme of Operation Summer Nights is 'sensible drinking' and PC Holmes is liasing with pubs to pass on key messages about their responsibilities.

He said: "Summer Nights focuses particularly on those negative actions that often result from people drinking too much alcohol such as violence, criminal damage, road deaths, fires accidents and poor health.
"The campaign seeks to let people know that this type of behaviour is not acceptable in Lanca-shire and reassures others that action is being taken by all the organisations involved in tackling alcohol-related anti-social behaviour.

"The message to adults is 'drink sensibly this summer'. Summer Nights doesn't want to stop anyone enjoying alcohol – we just ask that people drink sensibly in a way that won't cause harm to themselves or other people.''
