EXCITEMENT is building ahead of the Soap Stars' charity football match at Morecambe's Christie Park on Sunday (July 27).
The final Soap Stars team is still to be finalised but will be drawn from Coronation Street and Hollyoaks regulars.

In recent years, Michael le Vell (Kevin Webster), Steve Arnold (Ashley Peacock), Ryan Thomas (Jason Grimshaw), Andy Whyment (Kirk
Sutherland), Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs), Mark Moraghan (Owen Davies, Holby City) and Phil Olivier (Brookside and The Games) have all played.

Martyn Butlin, of Heysham power stations who are organising the event with CancerCare, said: "It will be a great day out. In recent years we've had 4,000 people at the game and if we can beat that this time we'll make thousands for this great charity.

"The Soap Stars are fantastic, they turn up for free and sign autographs and pose for photos for hours.

"Last time one or two nearly missed the coach home because they spent so much time with the fans."

Kick-off is 1pm, but Martyn is suggesting fans get into the ground early to be sure of getting the best vantage point for star-spotting.
Asda in Morecambe are backing the event by handing out free footballs to anyone who comes into the store and gives the magic phrase – 'Rover's Return' -– to a member of staff.

"The support we get for the game from Morecambe FC, The Bay and local businesses means that every penny on the day will go to CancerCare and help them in their work in supporting families," said Martyn.

The gates open at Christie Park at noon, with the game kicking off at 1pm. Admission is £5 for adults, £3 for children or £12 for a family ticket.
