A MAN enjoying a Subway sandwich after a night out in Lancaster smashed a door window at the premises when he was told he couldn't sit down inside to eat it.
Luke Christopher Bolger, 22, of Primrose Street in Lancaster, pleaded guilty at Lancaster Magistrates Court to criminal damage on June 14.
The court heard that Bolger walked into Subway around 2.15am and went to sit down to eat his sandwich.

The doorman asked him to leave because it was 'takeaways only' after midnight. Bolger got up and walked over to the main door, opened it and slammed the door into the frame.

There was a loud bang and the glass in the door smashed, causing £400 damage.

When police turned up, Bolger said: "I'm sorry, I'll pay for the damage. I'll go to prison if I'm arrested."

Bolger, who was unrepresented, told the court: "It was stupidity more than anything. I didn't mean it, it was drink that caused it."

Magistrates handed Bolger a 12-month conditional discharge and told him to pay £400 compensation.
