SHRIMPS boss, Sammy McIlroy, today added midfielder Damien Allen to his list of players leaving the club.
McIlroy had contemplated retaining the young midfielder - signed from Royal Antwerp early in the season - but decided to release him after another look at his squad options.

Defender Simon Grand, midfielders Neil Sorvel and Jamie Burns and striker Jon Newby were told last week they wouldn't be part of the club's plans next season.

McIlroy and the board are in the process of speaking to players and their agents about coming to Christie Park and, The Visitor understands, have already tabled one formal cash bid for a striker.

Said McIlroy: "It is always a difficult time of year for a manager and difficult decisions have to be made.

"All the players have played their part in our success this year and we are all very grateful for their efforts and wish them well.''

Young Reserves players Paul Jarvis, Andy Langford and Jamie Davies have also been released.

One player set to return to the club, though, is Michael Howard after his loan spell with Oxford finished last week.
