The season got off to a flying start for newly-promoted Morecambe Hoops when they blasted 12 goals past a bemused and thoroughly overrun Caton United side.
Striker Danny Ecob, a new signing from Carnforth Rangers, scored an incredible eight goals on his debut for the Hoops.

Hoops showed why many think they could push for the title in their first season in the Premier Division, limiting Caton to just one shot on goal and that was from a penalty from Darren Greene.

The other promoted side, Halton Rangers, have had a tough start to the season, losing 5-0 at Carnforth Rangers last Wednesday and 2-0 to TIC Dynamos on Saturday, Martin Lewis finding the net for TIC.

Carnforth Rangers, another team expected to challenge for the title this year, failed to build on their good win over Halton.

They crashed to defeat against a much-weakened Kirkby Lonsdale, who had a stand-in keeper to thank for their narrow 2-1 win on Saturday.

Swarthmoor Social club opened their new campaign with a thrilling 2-2 draw against Highgrove, who had Luke Ogley to thank for saving a point when he scored both goals.

Storeys started their defence of the title as they finished last season with a win at Ingleton on Wednesday. But the champions didn't have an easy victory, a debut goal from Liam Jeffrey and an own goal securing a 2-1 win.

Marsh United dropped two points in their opener at home to Morecambe Royals, the final score being 1-1. Cartmel started with three points after seeing off Galgate 2-1 last Wednesday.

Boys Club are much fancied to go close to promotion tin Division One this season but have already lost two games.

They lost an entertaining game to Ingleton Reserves 3-2 in a game excellently refereed by Tony Howells, following up a 1-0 loss to Bowerham.

Bowerham, newly promoted, look like being a strong team as they followed up their win over Boys Club with a comprehensive 7-1 win over Millhead.

College AFC bounced back from an opening day 4-1 defeat to Bentham by easily beating a much-fancied Highgrove Reserves side 2-0 with Simon Brister scoring twice.

Torrisholme FC, relegated last season, started off with an thrilling 4-4 draw against Grange only to crash to an 8-1 defeat to a strong Marsh United Reserves side, Lee Sparks came on as a second half substitute and scored four goals.

Morecambe Cricket Club are fancied to do well in Division Two but they lost their first game as Arnside made it two wins from two games.

Morecambe Cricket Club had five players withdraw for various reasons two hours before kick-off time leaving stand-in manager Steve Jordan with no option but to play.

Halton Rangers Reserves started life in Division Three with an excellent 4-1 against last season's champions Bolton-le-Sands Reserves.

Burton Thistle, who have had to withdraw their Reserve team from the league, battled well in its opening two games to draw 2-2 twice, first against Allithwaite Rangers and then Squires FC.

Unpredictable Gregson FC started the season in good form when they beat Boys Club Reserves easier than the 4-1 scoreline suggests.

Moghuls made it two wins from two games when they overcame AFC Moorlands to win 4-1 and Villa Royale 3-1 to set the pace.

It was old versus young as the Morecambe Gold team of veterans started off very well to beat a youthful Gregson Reserves 2-1, the winning goal being scored by John Eccles.

Two other young sides met as College AFC Reserves played well to overcome Ingleton A 2-0.

Villa Royale as usual lost their first game of the season to Moghuls and they usually lose their second but on this occasion they won with a last-second goal to inflict Millhead Reserves' second defeat of the season.

Millhead's season started badly as they were comfortably beaten by Middleton Reserves, the final score being 8-1.
