IN an amazing twist of fate, Morecambe will again travel to Preston North End, hoping to repeat their brilliant success of two seasons ago in the Carling Cup first round.
The draw pitched the two Lancashire sides together again at Deepdale and the Shrimps will be looking for another shock against the Championship side in the tie which will be played in the week beginning August 10.

Goals from skipper, Jim Bentley and his centre-back team-mate, Dave Artell secured a 2-1 victory at Preston in 2007.

Last season the Shrimps fell at the first hurdle with a 4-0 away reverse at Nottingham Forest.

What do you think? Can Morecambe do it again? Leave a comment.

But the previous year - their first in the competition following their promotion to the Football League - they achieved two of their greatest ever results, beating Preston North End and Wolves away before going out in the third round at Sheffield United.

Bentley says he is "delighted'' by the draw

Looking ahead to the tie, which will be played at Deepdale on Tuesday, August 11, he said: "It is a big draw for us.

"We went there a couple of years ago and surprised everyone by winning and it would be nice to repeat that. it will be a great occasion for the lads and I am sure the fans will love it as well.

"At the end of the day we all know it is a really tough tie but we have nothing to lose and we will go out and enjoy it and try to get a result.''

Ticket prices for the tie have been announced and are priced at £12 for adults and £5 for concessions.
