PAUL Lloyd signed a new contract to stay with Morecambe FC on Thursday.

The 21-year-old, who was born in Preston, has been with the Shrimps since 2005 when he was signed from the club's academy.

He has usually featured as a substitute, often playing on the right-hand side of midfield as understudy to Garry Thompson.

With Thompson having left Christie Park, Lloyd is likely to be competing with new signing Neil Wainwright for a place on the right.

Lloyd signed his new one-year deal after the club's first pre-season training session on Thursday.
