Morecambe 210-6
Preston 85-4
MORECAMBE appeared to be getting on top against third-placed Preston when rain ended play at Woodhill Lane on Saturday and they had to settle for a winning draw.

In a consistent batting effort Alex Thistlethwaite (46), Phil Dennison (41) and Lewis
Edge (42 not out) were the main contributors to the home side's 210 for 6.

Preston professional and captain Bilal Asad was in imposing form having hit an unbeaten 47 from 50 balls when play was abandoned.

But Morecambe professional Mandla Mashimbyi took three for 21 off 11 overs to leave the visitors struggling at 85 for 4 before the downpour.

Preston 2nd 202-6 Dec (7pts)
Morecambe 2nd 82-2 (2pts) – rain stopped play
Furness BS (3D Sports) Northern League Division Two

RAIN ruined the potential of a thrilling finish at Preston.

Preston batting first played aggressively throughout their innings with Morecambe never being able to stem the flow of runs.

Jonty McDonald batted excellently for his 57 whilst Graeme Cassidy was the most successful of the Morecambe bowlers picking up three wickets.

Maje started brightly in reply hitting 31 in quick time. Izzat and Cockburn steadily built a platform for Morecambe's run chase with the latter falling for 23 just before the rain arrived to end play for the day.
