FOLLOWING a successful year of fundraising, staff from Westmorland Limited visited Eden House Children's Hospice, part of Eden Valley Hospice, to present a cheque for £10,000 and meet staff involved in the hospice.
Westmorland pledged to raise £50,000 over five years for Eden Valley Hospice, their nominated charity, and in this their fourth year they are only £13,000 from the target.

Staff from each part of Westmorland Limited, which consists of Westmorland Motorway Services and Farm Shops, Westmorland Hotel and Westmorland Caravan Park, all near Tebay and The Rheged Centre at Penrith, have taken part in various fundraising events including a 160ft zip slide, the Edinburgh half marathon, bbq and treasure hunt, electronic Christmas card donations, and the proceeds from Christmas party raffles.

Funds were also raised from all the profits from the sale of 'The Journey' a book sold at Tebay Services and The Rheged Centre, and customers donations in collection boxes at all the tills across the business.

Colin Powell, Head of Fund raising at Eden Valley Hospice commented "The annual cost of providing the service we offer is now some £2.7Million, about 25% of which is provided by the local NHS leaving us the challenge of finding £1.95m a year to sustain the hospice.

It is only through the ongoing support of the many individuals, organisations and companies like Westmorland who are so committed to supporting our work that we achieve our goals."
