A FAMILY from Lancashire needed the assistance of over 30 mountain rescue members after getting lost in the Pavey Park area of the Langdale Pikes.
The three walkers, aged 38, 12 and 10, were lost in mist on Sunday evening, with no map, torch or waterproofs.
36 members from Langdale / Ambleside and Kendal mountain rescue teams, and two search dogs, located them and escorted them to safety.
A LAMRT spokesperson said: "The daylight hours are getting shorter and the weather more changeable and people need to plan their trips before setting out."
