ASDA shoppers in the newly revamped Kendal store kick started a charity appeal which aims to raise funds to help the people of Burma affected by the recent cyclone. A promising amount of £150 was raised during the launch weekend.
As part of the launch weekend Asda Kendal, on Burton Road, had a variety of fun activities and competitions in store. In return for a donation to the Burma appeal, face painters were on hand to transform children into anything they could imagine! Delighted butterflies and lions could be seen in the aisles of Asda tucking into sweeties provided for the in-store party.

Customers also took part in a treasure hunt, searching for the 'star' prizes hidden throughout the store. Prizes ranged from stationery and sweets to MP3 players.

Big hearted Asda customers and colleagues happily made donations throughout the weekend towards the Burma appeal. Asda Kendal was continuing to raise money by having collection buckets to keep the money coming in.

Store manager, Mike Kenny said: "The Burma Appeal got off to a great start. Asda customers and colleagues are known for their generosity and I have no doubt that we will have raised a fantastic amount to help the people of Burma."
