PETS at Home opened its doors in Kendal last week with help from some very special guests, Callon and Sam, two of the dogs who have successfully found new homes through The Wainwright Shelter. The shelter is a local charity, which helps find new homes for rescued animals such as dogs and cats.
Local artist Robin Grenville Evans certainly proved a big hit providing lots of drawings of pets for customers to take away with them.

To celebrate Kendal's most famous export, Kendal Mint Cake, local business, The Little Bakery produced a special 'Kendal Pet Cake' which many canine friends enjoyed!

The fun carried on into the weekend too with face painters, balloon modellers and even a jazz band. Lakeland Radio even managed to pop down to judge a pet competition and the prize winner was Donna Jackson who brought along her border collie " Becks".

The Wainwright Shelter is the first partnership for Pets at Home Kendal and its Support Adoption initiative, whereby it supports the re-homing of animals through links with local organisations.

Neale says: "The opening day was fantastic; we were thrilled with the reaction from customers, the people of Kendal are certainly animal lovers! The Wainwright Shelter is providing a great service and we hope that the relationship will continue to grow both with the shelter and others in the area."
