A PLEA for walkers to join a fundraising trek has been made by a unique cancer charity.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is holding a nine mile sponsored walk from Kendal to Windermere on Sunday, July 20.

It starts at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal at 10.30am and takes in part of the Dales Way, passing a wealth of churches and bridges.

It is the fourth year the charity has organised the walk but Zoe Casson, fundraising manager for Cumbria, North Lancashire and the Isle of Man said she was disappointed with the take up so far.

She said: "We need more people to take part and raise money for the charity."

The charity – which provides free nursing care for terminally ill cancer patients who have chosen to spend their final days in the comfort of their own home – is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.

Miss Casson said: "It would be fantastic if we could manage to get 60 people to take part to help celebrate the charity's diamond anniversary."

To register or for more information people can contact the fundraising office on 01229 822003 or email zoe.casson@mariecurie.org.uk
