A HISTORY teacher from Barrow-in-Furness has worked with leading awarding body OCR to help develop new A Level support materials for use by teachers nationwide.
This is the first time OCR has actively involved current teachers in developing schemes of work and lesson plans 'by teachers, for teachers'.

Among the teachers involved was Steve Buckley of Barrow-in-Furness Sixth Form College, who worked on developing materials for the History A Level.

Almost 50 teachers from across the UK were selected to be involved in the consultation process to produce schemes of work for OCR A Level subjects, to bring a fresh and current approach to the new support materials, which accompany brand new A Level specifications for September 2008.

Steve said: "It's been really interesting developing the schemes of work, and it's great that OCR is working with teachers like me to make sure that their A Level support reflects what's really needed in the classroom.

"It's nice to think that teachers across the country could benefit from my work. It's been a lot of effort, but this is a very worthwhile project and I'm pleased to have been involved."
