High winds tripped barriers and lights at Bare Lane level crossing this morning.

A witness said red lights were flashing and the barriers were lifting but it was unclear whether a train was at the platform.

Network Rail said the warning lights had been tripped by the high winds and it was a failsafe measure designed to protect everyone.

The signals and barriers are now working normally.
