THIS year's Gateway International Roots festival will feature a unique opportunity to see Martin Simpson and Martin Carthy perform together.
Taking place at Kendal's Brewery Arts Centre this Thursday, March 20, the festival features Martin Simpson – one of the finest acoustic finger-style and slide guitar players in the world.

Winner of 3 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, he has worked with the likes of Jackson Browne, David Lindley, June Tabor, Martin Carthy, Martin Taylor and Eric Bibb and is a popular and much-loved solo performer. For four decades, Martin Car-thy's work has immeasurably enriched the British folk heritage.

On Friday, March 21 there will be a rare chance to hear the wonderful fusion sounds of the world's most charismatic Bhangra band.

Achanak, a six-piece, have gained reputation as the best live act in the music market, who have performed all over the world and been at the forefront of the UK Bhangra scene for more than 10 years.

Achanak's fusion of Punjabi sounds with Western and broader styles of music, (such as ragga, reggae, soul, jazz funk, rock, hip-hop, pop) together with their energetic stage performances make this a must see show!

And on Saturday, March 22 there is Ska Cubano.

Fusing unstoppable Jamaican ska beats with crazy Cuban brass and melodies, Ska Cubano a 12-piece band, featuring four horns and three percussionists is one of the hottest and most unique acts on the world music scene.

The result is a high energy, exhilarating fusion of Jamaican bass and ska rhythms with irresistible, feel-good Cuban party anthems.

Ska Cubano have triumphed at Glastonbury, Big Day Out and Womad. In concert few bands match Ska Cubano for presence and performance.

For full dates and details about any of the acts playing the festival simply log on to www.breweryarts.co.uk/music or call the Brewery box office on 01539 725133.
