AS National Archaeology Week is celebrated throughout the country from Saturday, July 12 to Sunday, July 20 Kendal Museum is excited to be taking part with two days of special events.
The museum kicks off with a Finds Day on Friday, July 18 when, from 1pm to 4pm, the Finds Liaison Officer for the North West, Dot Boughton, will be sharing her expertise with the public.

Bring in your odd and intriguing archaeological finds from the garden, from walks or from metal detecting and Dot will help you unravel their histories. Past discoveries the public have brought to the museum have included an Iron Age sword and a Viking shoe; what have you got hidden away in Grandpa's shed?

Please note the museum cannot give valuations on objects.

This event is followed by a chance to get close to the Romans as a Roman officer, his soldiers and archer take command of the Cumbrian museum on Saturday, July 19 from noon until 4pm. Find out about camp discipline, their gear and rations, and quiz them, if you dare, about their lives and adventures as they travel the Roman Empire.

Kendal Museum is opposite Kendal Station on Station road, and is open from 12pm to 5pm Thursday to Saturday with free entry for children and students.
