FURNESS Tradition Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary from Friday, July 11, to Sunday, July 13.
Based in Ulverston town centre, which benefits local businesses, it features many free events during Saturday day time in the Coronation Hall and at the Market Cross, including music and dance.

One of the highlights of this year's festival will be
Australian bush band Wongawilli who perform both bush music and also as a ceilidh dance band. They will also lead a workshop where Furness Tradition will revive the popular Victorian dance The Lancers. The dance created a lot of interest when Furness Tradition first revived it several years ago.

Top of the bill are Jeana Leslie and Siobhan Miller, winners of the 2008 BBC Young Folk Awards. The two Scots have been performing since their early teens and are powerful singers and fine piano and fiddle players.

The festival also features Nick Hennessey harpist, singer and master storyteller.

Dance sides performing this year are Furness Morris; a local Morris team who dance in the Cotswold style. The event will also feature workshops on fiddle, harp, pre-organ traditional church music and storytelling.

Weekend tickets cost £30 with prices for individual events from £6 to £12. The usual concessions apply. For more information, go to www.furnesstradition.org.uk.
