A FUNNY and touching new play next week – Stan Laurel: Please Stand Up! – a one man show with Bob Kingdom offers the opportunity to discover the man who was formerly Stan Jefferson and how, and why, he became Stan Laurel the comedy genius.
With assistance from his real life daughter, the play at the Coronation Hall, Ulverston gets closer than ever before to discovering the real man. A question and answer session follows.

Also on at the Coronation Hall:
* The UVHS Summer Extravaganza, a celebration of achievements on Thursday, July 10 is an an opportunity for the Music Department to say goodbye to sixth form students leaving this summer after seven years of loyal service to the bands.

Performing will be the String Orchestra, the highly acclaimed Swing Band and the internationally travelled Wind Band. A fantastic showcase of exceptional musical talent from the youngsters of our town.

* Come and join Let's Dance! with Phillip Randles a friendly informal dance evening – organised by a group of local dance enthusiasts in one of the best ballroom venues in the north. Beginners and returning dancers made most welcome.

Details: Friday 11th July, 8pm, tickets: £7.

* In a few weeks is David Dickinson's 'Real Deal'.

"This is the programme that will level the playing field between dealers and auction houses," says David Dickinson.
