HELP the Circular Walk from Oxenholme Station get a step closer to becoming one of the UK's 21 Top Dog Walks 2008.
Hill's Pet Nutrition and Enjoy England have today revealed that the Circular Walk from Oxenholme Station is one of 52 walks shortlisted for a chance to become one of the UK's 21 Top Dog Walks.
You can help ensure Cumbria's local walk makes it into
the top 21, by voting at www.21top dogwalks.co.uk. You could also win a year's supply of Hill's Science Plan dog food.
Now into its second year, Hill's Pet Nutrition launched the campaign to help reduce the rising levels of canine obesity, which now affects up to 50 per cent of dogs.
By simply taking your pooch for twice-a-day walkies you can help reduce canine obesity and the risk of related conditions such as heart disease, arthritis, breathing difficulties and diabetes.
Plus with the nation looking for ways to be greener, walking is also a perfect way to reduce your carbon footprint and save some money.
Tom Wright, chief executive of national tourism agency, VisitBritain said: "The credit crunch and wider economic climate is making it increasingly possible that many more people will opt for a UK break instead of going abroad.
What's more, a domestic break is often the easiest and best way to holiday with your pet, letting you all enjoy long walks in the beautiful English countryside, beside the coast or in national parks.
"By providing a list of the top dog walking spots, we will encourage people to go and discover the fantastic beaches, parks and woodlands that the UK has to offer."
If you are concerned about the weight of your pet, Hill's Pet Nutrition recommends that you visit your veterinary practice for a weight check and to find out the ideal weight for your pet together with a suitable diet and exercise regime if necessary.
