Morecambe RNLI hovercraft launches to people trapped in mud in Heysham Harbour

At 5.15pm on August 15 the hovercraft was authorised to launch commanded by Andy Wright with three crew and upon arrival at the scene they began a search of the area for the reported people trapped.
No immediate people were found trapped.
They continued to search the area to ensure they were satisfied that there was no one in danger and then returned to the station.

Hide AdOnce back at the station the hovercraft along with the assistance of the shore crew was cleaned down and prepped ready for the next shout.
One of the crew that day, Hannah Boyle, who went out on the hovercraft to assist with the search, was hoping to be spending an anniversary weekend with her other half after they met on that date many years ago.
A spokeman for Morecambe lifeboat said: "Nothing stands in the way of our volunteers commitment to the RNLI and the lure of Hannah’s first live job.
"Well done Hannah, you’ll have to have a double anniversary celebration next year."
