A rare black swan has been spotted at the landing stage of the John O'Gaunt Rowing Club in Skerton.

A member of the club for 55 years, Neil Wigglesworth said: “The club has been on this site for 177 years and as far as I know we've never had a black swan here before. I'd hate to say 'unique' but certainly very unusual!”

The black swan (Cygnus atratus) is a native of Australia but several of these striking birds are now living in the wild in the UK.
